Back in 2018, we started Myaar Uolux with a simple observation. Most financial advice was either too complex for regular families or too generic to be useful. We wanted something different.
Our approach grew from working with real Canadian families who were tired of jargon-heavy presentations and cookie-cutter portfolios. They needed someone who could explain investing without the fancy terminology and help them make decisions that fit their actual lives.
Seven years later, we're still doing exactly that. Just with better coffee in our Toronto office.
How We Got Here
Three people who met at a community finance workshop in 2017 couldn't stop talking about how investing advice seemed disconnected from how families actually lived. One was a former educator frustrated by complex financial literacy programs. Another had spent years in banking watching good advice get buried in unnecessary complexity. The third came from a family that learned investing the hard way.
We started meeting at a coffee shop on Adelaide Street, sketching out what straightforward family investing guidance might look like. The kind where you could ask basic questions without feeling like you should already know the answer.
By mid-2018, we had our first clients. Families who appreciated that we explained things clearly, admitted when we didn't know something, and focused on building wealth gradually instead of chasing dramatic returns.
We've never promised instant wealth or guaranteed returns. Just honest guidance from people who genuinely want to help your family make smarter financial decisions over time.

Destin joined us in early 2020, bringing fifteen years of experience helping families navigate investment decisions without the usual industry pretense. He's the person who can break down complex market movements into conversations that actually make sense.
Before joining Myaar Uolux, he spent nearly a decade at a major Canadian bank where he grew increasingly frustrated watching good financial guidance get buried under sales targets and product quotas. He wanted to work somewhere that put client understanding first.
Outside our Adelaide Street office, you'll find him volunteering with local financial literacy programs and occasionally attempting to explain cryptocurrency to his teenage nephew.
